Alternative text
A text alternative that communicates the purpose or information of an image when the image cannot be seen.
Example
A portfolio screenshot may describe the relevant interface, while a decorative glow should use an empty alternative or be hidden.
Why it matters
Useful alternatives support screen-reader users and situations where images fail, but repeated file names or keyword lists create noise.
